Amazing Opportunity for over 18s with Disabilities Amazing Opportunity for over 18s with Disabilities or Additional Needs!
We are delighted to announce we are now accepting places for our 2026 Over 18s SAILID voyage.
This voyage will be on the TS Maybe, Dun Laoghaire - Dun Laoghaire, 11/05/2026 - 15/05/2026 and cost €200
These voyages places are exclusively for people over 18 who have a disability or additional needs, and their buddies (friend, family member, carer etc), if they feel a buddy is required. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of The Maybe, we are unable to take wheelchair users on this occasion.
Due to the height differences of berths at various ports, the ability to negotiate a steep ramp/ladder will be a necessity for travel.
This opportunity sees the participants become part of the working crew as trainees on the Tall Ship Maybe on a 5-day voyage at sea. Potential participants should be aware that this will be a challenging but fun adventure. The itinerary of the trip is weather dependent but will include a visit to the UK or Isle of Man.

We are delighted to share this wonderful article b We are delighted to share this wonderful article by Sail Training Ireland mentor Margaret O'Brien
Margaret O'Brien on her experience with Sail Training Ireland onboard the tall ship Maybe last year. Thank you Margaret.

Our volunteer mentors are an integral part of what we do. They are not part of the professional crew but are there to look after the trainees should they need support. They are an amazing group and continuously go above and beyond to help the young people to get the most out of their voyage with us.

Thank you to all at Irish Sailing and in particular Oonagh Healy. Thanks also to Oonagh for the wonderful article on our annual Awards ceremony (see link). She captures the marvellous atmosphere of the event and the impact sail training can have.

Bringing about real change Our young trainees en Bringing about real change

Our young trainees enjoy an amazing adventure while having great fun and making new friends on Sail Training Ireland voyages.

They learn about how to crew a tall ship, the maritime sector, the environment, and the impact we are having on the planet.

Critically, they also learn essential soft skills in a very real environment as they become part of the crew of the tall ship.

The improvement in skills experienced by our trainees this season has been up to an amazing 20% across a range of skills (see graph below). Even more remarkable is that this change happens over the short space of a weeklong voyage.

These are leadership skills that the young people can use in all aspects of their lives.

Well done to them all.
